A data visualization of global temperature increases displayed on the White Cliffs of Dover

Ed Hawkins, a climate scientist at the University of Reading, has created a series of visualizations tracking rises in global temperatures. One visualization shows the average temperatures in the United Kingdom from 1884 to 2022 illuminated on the White Cliffs of Dover. Years with cooler temperatures than average appear as blue stripes and years with hotter temperatures than average appear as red stripes. According to the visualization, the United Kingdom has experienced only one year colder than average since 2000.
