Bloomberg has used data from the Election Commission of India and a Delhi-based research institute to create an interactive map showing how different states and territories in India voted in this year’s general elections. According to the visualization, which shows the distribution of votes for the ruling party in orange and the opposition Indian National Congress in blue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party won all the seats in Gujarat, Modi’s home state, while the opposition decisively won in the southernmost wealthy state of Tamil Nadu. The ruling party suffered the biggest setbacks in two of its former strongholds, Uttar Pradesh in the north and Maharashtra in the west.
