Mapping the Spread of Data Centers in the U.S.

The New York Times has created a visualization mapping the locations of data centers across the United States, using 2022 data from the Electric Power Research Institute, a nonprofit energy research organization based in Washington, D.C. Each yellow dot marks a data center, with noticeable clusters in Northern Virginia and Northern Texas suggesting strategic factors such as lower land costs, property taxes, labor rates, and energy prices influence where companies build.
